I play music and do stuff.
Bob Wegner - Bron-Yr-Aur (Led Zeppelin cover)
2015.09.19
Music composed by Jimmy Page.
Filmed (mostly) by Robin Rees.
My pilgrimage to Bron-Yr-Aur in northern Wales couldn't have gone any more smoothly. The current owners were incredibly kind and accommodating, chatting for quite some time and allowing me to play and record a few pieces that were written here by Led Zeppelin in 1970.
This music was a massive influence on me in my youth, and I'd wanted to do this for nearly 20 years at that point (it's nearly 30 now). The only way to express this deepest gratitude was simply to play. I was nervous, reflective, and without words, even in my head. Thank you, Jimmy Page & co. Huge bucket list item checked off.

Revival Toronto, ON June 20, 2023 1) Interview with David Marsden [0:00] 2) Sun Voices [18:01] A year ago tonight was one of the greatest nights of my life, and a pretty special one for a whole lot of others as well. Five members of Max Webster showed up to the launch of my coffee table book "High Class", including the A Million Vacations lineup who hadn't been in a room together since 1980. I ...

Bob Wegner - 2112 (Rush cover on solo acoustic guitar)

Composed by Lee/Lifeson/Peart. Filmed on 26 January 2020 on Royal Caribbean's Anthem of the Seas. When Neil Peart died, I, along with millions of other people, was absolutely devastated. But unlike most of those millions, I was in the middle of a two-month cruise ship contract that just happened to have a Canadian cruise director calling the shots. With his help pulling some strings, I soon pla...

Just wanted to say that I have been a lifelong supporter of Max Webster and Kim Mitchell the Canadian fans. Love you. You are an icon for the music industry. I am in tears saying this to you as a Canadian friend you are the best, Kim love you. And on are your❤💪🏻👍🏻🇨🇦🏁
they rock and if they want to will...Again...always a fan of
My good old neighbors from Grandview avenue, I miss them.
@@1TBX69 I bet you have a tale or two you could tell.
Would love to get some guitar lessons from Kim Mitchell.
There should be a movie about these guys
@@indianathiessen emphatic agreement.
Too bad Battle Scar was cut short, but great show just the same.
Such a great band. I'm from Buffalo NY & have seen Max Webster & Kim Mitchell solo many times & also met Kim great guy. I believe the keyboardist in this video Dave Stone did a short stint in Rainbow playing on the Long Live Rock & Roll album. Long Live Max....
I have followed them since the first albums The Party, Hangover, Lily, , then came High Class in Borrowed Shoes, than Mutiny Up My Sleave , A Million Vacation, Universal Juveniles, but than Max Webster Desolved? Kim Mitchell's legacy continues today as he continues to write and perform, thanks another Kim.
Universal Juveniles is an amazing album
Love Kims style.
Max Webster/UFO/Rush @ the Sam Houston Coliseum : Farewell To Kings Tour. What a freaking show. I’ll never forget Kim’s guitar sound. I’d never seen or heard of Max, but that show changed everything. I remember hearing “Oh War! & at the same timing thinking, “these guys dress like a bunch of clowns but holy fuck, this band is something special!!! ❤❤❤❤❤
I saw them back up Rush for the Farewell to Kings tour. Concert was $3.99 CDN
Max Webster came and played at our highschool in 78'. Had all their albums and cassettes and played them at all house parties, field parties and trips to Mosport as well as Sandbanks. We took our Max tapes to a week long ski trip in Killington Vermont and the Americans loved it. At one bar they played our tapes all night long. The place was just a rock'in.
I remember in the early 80s, here in MN, radio station KQRS would play Battlescar quite regularly. Never much else from them….man I’ve missed a lot. This stuff is great
very tight band
Had all their 8-tracks, now all the LPs. Awesome & underrated. Mutiny Up My Sleeve definitely in my all-time top 10.
Wow, I love old progressive rock and didn't know about these guys until I was checking out. Kim Mitchell live video and saw some comments... these guys rock!
Welcome aboard ! Once you know this brilliant band existed, life is never quite the same.
Max Webster was my very first concert ever. Hamilton Place such a long time ago. Thanks for bringing back such awesome memories!!!!
Like a lot of people we saw Max Webster when they were support to Rush. What a superb gig. 2 bands for the price of one and later on I got one of the Kim Mitchell solo albums which is very good and has stood the test of time. Unlike a great deal of music.
Max Webster totally rocks !!!
How have I never heard of these guys? Wow!!!
11:47 is that a diminished scale? You don't hear that very often in rock music
Indeed. Kim was and is still not at all a conventional rock player - he studied jazz in his early 20s under the same teacher who taught Ed Bickert.
Playlist of my teens ❤
I saw Max Webster in Toronto in 1979 at Massey hall, they were great.
This sounds like a combination of early Rush, and Frank Marino. Just my two cents
Max Webster was an awesome show to see in the 80s
Oohfah doofah!
Max Webster was headliner Sammy Hagar was backup band Vancouver good times.
Blast from the past. Seeing them at the gardens with rush, in bala. Wow good times. Reminds me of the old parties up north, past Barrie even, lol. Max Webster will always be Canadian gold
ha! Just happened upon this. I can remember people blaring 'The Party' at, well, parties. Listening to it now, it kind of reminds me of Frank Zappa. Give it a listen and you'll see what I mean ...
Paddy O'Lantern was my nickname in high school as no one (teachers, friends, doctors, bosses) could pronounce my name for reasons I'll never quite understand.
I've seen Max Webster in Halifax opening up for Rush

This is so great! My favourite Max lineup. Interesting to see Kim play an SG here. Always think of him playing a strat. Mind you….i guess that is not Terry Watkinson on the keyboards.
That's David Stone, who'd played with Ritchie Blackmore in Rainbow. And indeed, Mitchell was going through a brief SG phase in this period.
@bobwegner Thanks so much for the info. I have to admit that I liked Terry Watkinson more, and I absolutely love Dave Myles on bass!
I got to see them open for Rush in March 1978. And as headliners a couple of years later. Both in Guelph Ontario.
Fantastic...
Anything Kim did after Max...... was CRAP!!
Strongly disagree. The EP and Itch album are both excellent, and there are all kinds of beautiful tracks like Expedition Sailor and Pure As Gold.
I disagree totally. Kim's solo stuff was top-shelf.
@@trenthogan4212 Was it because of those great lines like.... 'pimples on my pimples and scabs on my scabs"? Or singing about his 'patio lanterns...?' Oh yeah, top notch.
God knows how this appeared on my feed. I saw Max Webster at the Hammersmith Odeon (UK) supporting Rush on their Hemispheres tour, (1979). As I recall they were very well received, which was unusual for support acts back then. I picked up a couple of albums (Magnetic Air and Hangover) as a result of seeing them. Thanks for uploading this.
Love Magnetic Air! The live version of Paradise Skies is better than the studio version imo.
They opened for Rush in 1976 just after they released 2112 in Ottawa along with Ian Thomas . Tickets were $ 5.75.... we were 10 rows up from the stage . Awesome freaken show ..
saw that tour at Massey Hall wish I still had my hair
I lived for the New Music simulcasts ... it blew my mind that i could see the visuals on tv and hear the audio on Chum Fm 😂 i thought we were in the space age 🚀👩🚀 ...also pretty cool that this one took place at my home away from home (thanks Roxy theater for many great memories)
Lovin it from Toronto Canada 🇨🇦
Have seen Max Webster many times live and Kim during his solo career. Without a doubt a very underated guitar player, Mitchell and Dubois are one of the best songwriting teams to ever come out of Canada. Remember getting tickets and going to Maple Leaf Gardens to see both Max Webster and Rush perform, that was one amazing concert! Kim Pre Baseball Cap! Haha
Love the sound! 70s rock still rocks. Never noticed this band from here Australia though - did they tour here??
Sadly no. The furthest they got out of Canada was the UK and Europe.
They got better...
This was the music I grew up with! Miss those days! Thanks for putting this out there!❤❤❤❤❤
Fuckin Eh!!!!!! One of the bands that made high school in Ontario fun!!! Thanks for posting!
For such a small population, Canada has produced some incredible bands ! ❤️🇨🇦
The Guess Who is another one!
But wait there's more !!! Like South Parks's joke goes there's no Canada like French Canada. There's a whole music scene in Quebec that most of us dont even know about. All in French of course but that's cool. Dont have to understand it. Try Offenbach or Corbeau. They are a good start and follow a few links.
Well it was either play guitar or ride a skidoo all day long
Check out 'The Beaches'

I had a "friend" down the street who was a dick but his older siblings and friends were cool. They introduced me to Max Webster. I was in heaven. For those interested, my favorite song is Lily from their first album. Check it out. ruclips.net/video/1g_uT_RQYJ0/видео.html
